Our commitment

This website is built to be usable by as many people as possible, including people who navigate by keyboard, use a screen reader, magnify the page, prefer reduced motion, or need higher contrast. Accessibility was treated as a build requirement rather than a retrofit.

The standard we target

The target is WCAG 2.2 Level AA. The site is designed to that standard throughout.

What has been done

  • Every page uses semantic HTML with one h1 and a logical heading order.
  • A skip link precedes the header on every page.
  • All functionality is reachable and operable by keyboard, and focus is always visible.
  • Text contrast meets or exceeds 4.5:1 for body copy and 3:1 for large text and interface components. Secondary text uses a deliberately darkened Slate because the lighter brand Slate reaches only 3.60:1 on the Limestone background.
  • Colour is never the only way meaning is conveyed. Form errors carry a symbol and a text message as well as colour.
  • Images carry meaningful alternative text, and decorative marks such as the bracket motif are drawn with CSS so they are never announced.
  • Form fields have persistent visible labels, are correctly associated, use appropriate autocomplete values, and announce errors politely.
  • Motion is restrained and is disabled entirely for anyone whose system requests reduced motion.
  • Text reflows without horizontal scrolling down to 320 CSS pixels, and the layout tolerates text being enlarged.
  • Page language is declared, and page titles are unique and descriptive.

Known limitations

We would rather state these than imply the site is flawless.

  • The enquiry form is not yet connected to a delivery endpoint, so the end-to-end submission path — including how errors from the server are announced — has not been tested with assistive technology.
  • Testing so far has been carried out by the development team using keyboard navigation, automated checks and contrast calculation. It has not yet been validated by an independent audit or by users of assistive technology.
  • Any document or third-party embed added later — a PDF proposal, a scheduling widget, a video — will need its own accessibility check. None is present today.
